Some interesting observations, Matt.

I will say that there were mp3 players before the iPod. They just did it right and that is why it was revolutionary.

I have never actually seen someone using a Kindle in real life. There is a difference between "revolutionary" and "new." Revolutionary implies that a lot of people are involved. I think the iPad will continue what the Kindle has started. The Kindle is a great device. But I'm not going to get one simply because of the lack of color. Which brings me to my next point.

I think you are right that the iPad won't revolutionize digital media. I think it will "revitalize" the print industry. Magazines and newspapers are going to finally be delivering high quality digital content with a whole new demographic and pricing scheme, which I am excited about.

We'll just have to wait and see.

I agree that it would be good for Facebook to allow you control over offensive ads, and they should definitely put clear and distinct controls on who can get your personal data (not something they've yet achieved); however, I don't really think the idea of looking at your information to find relevant ads is a problem. If the matching is always done on Facebook's side and can't be tracked by the advertiser when the ad is clicked, then I can't understand what harm is really done.

During the writing of this article, I used Trend-Micro's Housecall antivirus to scan all of my Windows machines for threats. None were found.

While drive-by attacks on the web are certainly a possibility, many of these sites will be identified by modern browser security implementations.

A/V software generally won't protect you against cross-site scripting or HTTP response splitting. SQL Injection has more to do with server attacks than client-side threats. A/V software won't help in any of these cases since simple XSS or SQL Injection can't install software on your computer directly. These types of attacks would be more compromising to an individual's online identity than it would be to their computer.

I have done quite a bit of research on the subject :)

You are running windose without A/V and you seriously claim you're not infected based solely upon your safe surfing habits? Without running A/V, you know you're not infected, how?

Ya, right - some expert!

Thanks to cross-site Scripting, SQL Injection and HTTP Response Splitting, MANY seemingly innocuous webpages can now infect your PC, including hacked government websites.

Google "SQL injection" and then go read some articles and educate yourself:

it seems this is often the case with under-supported (and sometimes well-supported) open-source software. but it's the best free alternative i've found to commercial software like Camtasia's amazing suite.

I played with this once for a few days, but never used it seriously. Seemed to work OK, but it was a little clunky.
